Nissan GT-R

Nissan GT-R
By Scott Willfred Carroll

The Nissan GT-R is something of a giant killer, a sports car
that offers six-figure performance for a five-digit price.
Packed with electronic handling and launch control aids, the GT
-R is able to use advanced technology to overcome its
substantial curb weight and offer agile responses along with
truly breathtaking acceleration figures.
Originally introduced in America in 2008, the last few model
years have seen the GT-R receive a host of power, handling and
aesthetic upgrades. The biggest news for the latest iteration is
an even more potent engine. Better air intake efficiency,
reduced airflow resistance and improved exhaust emissions
efficiency have allowed Nissan to wring an additional 15
horsepower and 15 lb-ft from the GT-R's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6
for totals of 545 ponies and 463 lb-ft of twist. All that power
coupled with the GT-R's all-wheel-drive system allows the car to
sprint from zero-to-60 mph in under 3 seconds while the quarter
mile is said to be dealt with in under 11 seconds.
Japanese-spec models are unique in cardom in that they get an
asymmetrical suspension set-up. To offset the added weight of
the driver and the transfer case along with its drive shaft
mounted on the right side of the car, the setup has a front left
spring rate that is higher than the right one. At the same time,
the diagonally-opposite right rear is reduced for a more
balanced ride.
The GT-R is already widely considered as one of the best
handling vehicles on the market, and the latest version only
promises to build on that reputation. Engineers managed to
further reinforce the GT-R's body structure for the latest model
year, which Nissan says delivers more responsive handling. The
revisions come on top of a host of recent changes including an
entirely reworked suspension complete with new spring rates and
dampers, revised geometry and a new leverage ratio. These
changes helped to improve the efficiency of both the shock
absorbers and the stabilizer, giving the GT-R an overall more
confident driving feel.
Top of Form
Nissan also worked on the GT-R's six-speed dual-clutch
transmission, improving both shift feel and quietness. The
automaker attributes those improvements to a strengthened design
of the shift fork arm and a firmer fixing bearing for the
flywheel housing.
Other recent handling improvements include strengthened strut
towers with carbon and aluminum materials for improved joint
stiffness and a reinforced dashboard.
Aesthetic Changes
The front and rear exterior fascias were restyled for the
previous model year to give the GT-R a fresh look. The front
fascia now includes integrated LEDs in the bumper, and design
changes added 10 percent additional downforce from the front of
the car.
Interestingly, Nissan even went back and modified the paint
across the board - claiming higher quality. In particular, the
white colors are said to be a much better match now when
comparing the plastic and metal panels which had unacceptable
levels of variation before. Six exterior colors are on offer:
Deep Blue Pearl, Jet Black, Solid Red, Gun Metallic, Pearl White
and a four-stage metallic Super Silver.
The other notable recent change to the exterior of the vehicle
comes in the form of 10-spoke Rays forged aluminum wheels - as
captured in our spy photos. The wheels not only offer a new
look, but they also drop 28.6lbs which results in a welcomed
6.6lb drop in unsprung weight at each corner.
Trim Level Breakdown
The Nissan GT-R is available in Premium or Black Edition trim.
The GT-R Black Edition features a number of aesthetic upgrades,
including custom red and black Recaro heated and leather-
appointed seats, red and black interior trim and a dark
headliner. There is a handmade, dry-carbon fiber rear wing on
this model as well, which is sure to please JDM and tuner car
fans. Special metallic black six-spoke RAYS lightweight wheels
round out the upgrades.
The Premium model comes packed with standard features including
leather seating with synthetic suede inserts, an 11-speaker Bose
Audio system, a navigation system with XM NavTraffic, NavWeather
and Zagat survey functionality, an iPod input jack, a multi-
function display and Bluetooth phone connectivity that supports
audio streaming
Interior Upgrades
Other changes include real carbon fiber for center stack along
with HVAC controls that receive a new style of knobs.
There are several other very subtle changes, including the use
of a softer material for the seat belts, variations to the
tensioner, a modified steering wheel logo and new metal trim
texture for the A/C vents and paddle shifters.
Recent interior changes are minimal, with the most significant
items being a tachometer that now glows blue and a rearview
camera as standard equipment. Nissan has also made the switch
from Bose's standard woofers to the company's latest Precision
Sound System woofers, which should help overall sound quality.
A change that will likely be much appreciated by all, every GT-R
model enjoys upgraded seating options. The Premium Edition
receives a total redesign aimed at bolstering comfortable and
stability while reducing incoming vibration during extreme
driving or while traversing rough roads. All variants now get
Nissan's RearView Monitor as standard fare for making parking
the supercar much easier thanks to a video camera as well as
backing out of parking spots easier.
Showing just how dedicated Nissan is to the GT-R, they even went
as far as to work on the doors - claiming even further reduced
NVH as well as improved fit and finish.
Key Competitors
In terms of price, form and function, the Porsche 911 Carrera
Coupe in one form or another, along with the Audi R8 are
probably the most similar competitors to the GT-R, but in terms
of all-out performance or image, the list of competitors becomes
all kinds of crazy and ranges in price to several times that of
the GT-R - somewhat of a value in the supercar world.

Jasmine - Queen of The Night

Jasmine - Queen of The Night
By Anand Kumar Akunuri
I remember a rather trivial incident several years ago which yet
relates to the topic in question. It was a hot summer's evening;
the twilight was already setting in as I was travelling home in
a heavily crowded bus. The crowd in the bus made it hotter and
more humid with their exhalations, rendering the air heavy with
the stench of sweat and awful body odour. With every one
perspiring acutely the odour was quite oppressing and
unbearable. The bus moved on at a snail's pace with more and
more people struggling to find their way in at each stop. It was
truly stressful as the malodour assailed our nostrils with a
vengeful disposition. I was wondering if I should alight at the
next stop and walk home, as it was impossible to stand the
miasma any longer. Before I could decide however, the bus
stopped at the next stop. Luckily here a significant part of the
crowd alighted and were replaced by only a few new passengers. I
then decided to stay put.
It was at this point, that a sudden whiff of fragrant fresh
Jasmines filled the bus and everyone gasped in relief. I
discovered that a few women who had boarded the vehicle here
were each wearing a small bunch of fresh Jasmine flowers in her
hair. The change in the air could be felt with a pleasant
difference as the perfume of the flowers permeated all over the
bus alleviating us with sense of deliverance. The persistent
fetor quickly vanished even as I wondered at the cleansing
potent of these heavenly flowers. In my mind I secretly blessed
the women who brought about such a change in the air though they
were themselves ignorant of the relief they brought in with the
wonderful flowers they wore that evening.
Come summer and the late evening air is rent with a pleasant
redolence of the divine Jasmines in the neighbourhood. A walk in
the colony is enrapturing as the flowering plants nurtured
carefully in many houses put up their blossoms for display each
competing with the other in proffering the best fragrance and
imbuing our senses with subtle delight. And when the moon shows
up in the sky, the flowers somehow seem to further enrich their
perfume. It is probably the combination of the moon and the
delicate Jasmines that had charmed men for ages into their most
romantic selves and aptly christen the exalted flower as the
'Queen of the Night.' For the flowers are at their best only in
the night; an attribute that only a few other flowers probably
share.
What is it about this little flower that makes heads turn? How
is it that this tender blossom becomes the 'queen of the night?'
What is it in these flowers that mesmerises men and women alike?
Bearing little beauty in itself unlike the reginal rose or the
consummate lotus or even a plain marigold, it is too small and
rather insignificant in its looks. Or is it? In its isolation
perhaps it may be quite unpretentious too; but in its
multiplicity it commands traits that beat the best of the
flowers in every attribute. A whiff is all it takes to change
even the worst moods into sober and soothing spirits. The
flowers have a strangely mystical power to induce a sense of
gladness. There's something in them that brings about a sense of
calmness and relaxation when sniffed and felt. It is but natural
that though thousands of years have passed since the little
wonder was discovered, its allure only keeps pervading across
newer horizons. It is rare for a lady wearing Jasmines to be
unnoticed. The flowers have a strange and wonderful attribute in
that, that they also enhance the beauty of a lady bringing in a
certain charm and delicateness into her persona.
Jasminum Sambac as the divine Jasmine is scientifically named,
since time immemorial has been an intrinsic part of the cultures
of several Asian countries. Though believed to be of an Arabian
origin it has been actually sourced to the South Asian region.
While it is the national flower of Philippines, Indonesia and
Pakistan, it plays the role of the most important flower of even
the distant Hawaiian Islands across the Pacific. Now the flower
has found its place in Europe, Australia, Africa and even the
Americas. The flowers are now a major source of commercial
perfume extraction, and they find their way into Jasmine oil,
Jasmine spray and for consumption in China as Jasmine tea.
In India, especially the south, no celebration is complete
without these flowers. For traditional weddings every girl
adorns herself beautifully with these flowers. In fact it is an
unwritten norm that women wear silk sarees and beautify their
hair with long clusters of woven Jasmines when attending
weddings. The bride herself is impeccably adorned with these
lovely flowers and made seated in the wedding gazebo. The
flowers inevitably find their way on to the celestial bed
without the presence of which, it is believed the ceremony is
incomplete. It is perhaps true that Jasmines have aphrodisiac
capabilities, for their use in marriage rituals is so
inescapable. There is almost an anthomaniacal fervour attached
to these magical blooms so much so that in rich wedding
celebrations, the aisles are strewn with these flowers and
guests showered with them rendering the air with euphoric
delight.
Jasmines for centuries have exhorted beauty, purity, grace, and
tenderness that remains nonpareil and will continue to inspire
multitudes, for all it takes is a whiff of their blithesome
perfume to imbue our senses with inexplicable rapturous ecstasy.
The hallowed Jasmine in its timeless fragrant exuberance and
acclaimed for its myriad virtues is thence truly 'The Queen of
the Night!'

Thinking of Trying Out a Contest? There Are Several Kinds of Contests to Choose From

Thinking of Trying Out a Contest? There Are Several Kinds of Contests to Choose From
By Andrew Conroy

Contests
There is a difference between Contests and Sweepstakes.
We have talked about this before. Contests usually require skill or merit. They could be puzzles, games or other contests in which prizes are awarded based on skill and merit not on chance like a Sweepstakes or lotto. Contestants might be required to write something, paint a picture, solve a puzzle or answer questions correctly to win.
Unlike sweepstakes, skilled contests may legally require contestants to buy something or make a payment or donation to enter. It's important to recognize that many consumers are deceptively lured into playing skill contests by easy ways to enter. Once they've sent their money and become "hooked," the questions get harder and the entry fees get steeper. Entrants in these contests rarely receive anything for their money and effort. There are several consumer laws that help protect consumers against fraudulent sweepstakes and prize offers promoted through the mail or by phone.
Skilled Contests
Telemarketers frequently use sweepstakes and prize contests to sell magazines or other goods and services. These telemarketers make an initial contact with consumers through "cold calls" or take calls from consumers who are responding to a solicitation they received by snail mail or email. There are rules to help protect consumers from fraudulent telemarketers who use prize promotions as a lure. In every telemarketing call that involved a prize promotion, the law requires telemarketers to tell you the following:
The odds of winning a prize Contests. If the odds can't be determined in advance, the promoter must tell you the factors used to calculate the odds. You do not have have to pay a fee or buy something to win a prize or participate in Contests. If you ask, how to participate in the contest without buying or paying anything. They must clearly state an answer. The above can be confusing because you with Contests sometimes there a is a small fee just to enter. What you'll have to pay or the conditions you'll have to meet to receive or redeem a prize.
The rule for telemarketing sales is it prohibits telemarketers from misrepresenting any of the facts, as well as the nature or value of the prizes. It requires telemarketers who call you to pitch a prize promotion to tell you before they describe the prize. You do not have to buy or pay anything to enter. Also, it will not affect your chances of winning.
Snail Mail Contests
Many Contests promotions arrive by mail in letter or postcard form that instructs the consumer to respond by return mail or phone to enter a contest or collect a prize.
There is a deceptive mail prevention and enforcement act that helps protect consumers against fraudulent Contest promotions sent through the mail. The law prohibits:

1.Claims that you're a winner unless you've actually won a prize.
2.Requirements that you buy something to enter the contest or to receive future contest mailings.
3.The mailing of fake checks that don't clearly state that they are non-negotiable and have no cash value.
4.Seals, names or terms that implies that they are affiliated or endorsed by the federal government.
Skilled Contests
Skill contests are covered by the deceptive mail prevention and enforcement act. The law requires the sponsors to describe the following clearly:
The terms, rules and conditions of the contest. How many winners. Odds of the contest. What you must achieve to win the grand prize. Time frame for the contest. Name of the contest's sponsor. The address where you can reach the sponsor to request that your name be removed from the mailing list.
Another way to protect yourself is to request that your name be removed from mail and telephone solicitation lists. The federal government has created the national "Do Not Call Registry" That will reduce the telemarketing calls you receive. Visit www.donotcall.gov, to register. You will receive fewer telemarketing calls within 30 days of registering your number. That number will stay in the registry for five years. After five years you will be able to renew your registration.
The telemarketing sales rule also requires telemarketers to keep a "do not call" list of consumers who have asked not to be called again. If a telemarketer calls anyone on the list is illegal subject to a hefty fine. The same is applied to snail mail.
Another way to reduce mail and telephone solicitations is to contact the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) to request that your name be placed on its "do not call," "do not mail" and "do not email" lists. You can contact them at www.dmaconsumers.org.
Good Luck and Happy Sweeping!

It Can Be Easy, Inexpensive, And Fun To Make Your Own Stickers

It Can Be Easy, Inexpensive, And Fun To Make Your Own Stickers
By David Sheath
Many do not realize how truly simple and low-cost it is to make your own stickers. Whether for a crafting project, kids' activity, or even for affixing to holiday cards, special stickers add a little something extra that gives the finished product a refined and detailed appearance. A few simple office items are all that is needed for basic stickers, and the method can be modified depending on the intricate nature of your craft or your sticker needs and function.

Kids love stickers! It is true; kids do enjoy embellishing anything and everything with these cute and clever baubles. Stickers make great gifts for kids, and can encourage their imagination and provide a gentle push toward their creative side. So inexpensive to make, kids can also get in on the fun! Purchase decent quality self-adhesive pages that will fit in your printer at home. Have the kids artwork or designs ready to download or scan to fit the size you wish your stickers to be. There are plenty of free templates that can be downloaded for free and used to print sheets of uniform and cohesive stickers from your kids' greatest creations.

This also works well for more sophisticated needs such as business related or gift-giving. Use a favorite photo to create a page of photo stickers to stick to greeting cards or to give away to family and friends. Try black and white photos for a cool vintage photo feel. Be sure that you adhere to any copyright laws that may protect the photographer's work should you use a professional picture for your stickers.

Scan a business-card, reduce the size down by about fifty percent. Multiply the image using a template to reproduce this mini-version of your card for the perfect little advertising sticker! These are adorable, and can be used on postcards, for correspondence, or to stick here and there for some exposure!

For those that scrapbook, it might become necessary to seek very detailed and specific stickers and embellishments for targeted projects and pages. Having the perfect adornment for a themed page is a big part of the overall result and finished look. It is not unusual for some scrapbook enthusiasts to spend hours of their time and copious amounts of patience trying to find the perfect stickers and embellishments for their work, combing through crafting stores.

This doesn't even take the cost into account; these scrapbook items are expensive! Make your own using your digital camera, printer, and the same sticker template as for other projects. Take photos of actual objects and personal items, creating them into single stickers for specific use in your album or on your page. This really serves to personalize these when given as gifts, and the attention to detail and thought involved is not lost on the recipient! Many will sit in amazement at the tiny touches and detail that you took in creating their gift.

It is so easy to make your own stickers and spend far less than you would in a craft shop or office supply store. Furthermore, the stickers are specifically designed and crafted by you. Enjoy!

Get Tips on the Best Day to Book Flights

Get Tips on the Best Day to Book Flights
By Tanvir Tsm Hossain

Are you looking for the best day to book flights? Well, here are some ways you can save serious money on a planned travel. The key to booking cheap flights lies in making your travel plans much ahead. This gives you time to do some research and save on the cost of air travel. Travelling by flight is the quickest means to reaching your destination. However often people travel via road or rail to cut the cost on expensive fares. If they were to plan ahead they can get the best of both worlds.
Here are some easy tips to booking flights. Most flights operate on a Monday to Sunday schedule. As most travelers prefer to take weekend flights to spend the weekend with their family and friends or be early for a business meet on Mondays the flight are usually crammed. The cost of such flights is often unreasonable as there is more demand than supply. If you have to travel during weekends the best day to book flights is the Sunday previous to the date of your travel. Most business people book flights during the week as their schedules are often fixed at short notice. If you are going through a travel agent you must specify that he purchases the tickets at the lowest cost and give him a good week ahead to plan the purchase of the ticket.
Again, if you plan to book the international flights, the best day to book flights is the last day of the previous month. Every month beginning makes the travel date look closer to others while every previous month end makes it seem distant. Take advantage of this little trick if you can, when you book your next flight. Most domestic flight booking can be done similarly if you have sufficient notice on your travel.
Tuesday nights and early Wednesday mornings are great time to make a booking. If you can book a flight at 12:01 am, the best fares are available. This is due to the fact that all tickets held by individuals and parties kept on courtesy hold go back onto the market at a discounted rate which makes Wednesday the best day to book flights. You can be lucky to get some on the mid week flight booking.
Timing the purchase is everything in air travel. Often people spend thousands on flights and land in a crowded flight which offers them poor choice of seating arrangements. Moreover, there are frequent delays for crowded flights as the company is expecting most of it passengers to onboard and tends to extend the check in time. Sometimes the service onboard suffers for want of sufficient crew staff to manage demanding customers. In light of this, it's most appropriate to avoid such flights as they burn a hole in your pocket and are a bad bargain for the money spent.
To choose the best day to book flights you should watch offers given by airliners which indicate their low volume days.

Awaiting a New Book Release? Here's How to Find the Latest Releases at Affordable Prices

Awaiting a New Book Release? Here's How to Find the Latest Releases at Affordable Prices
By Tanvir Tsm Hossain
Are you an avid reader awaiting a new book release? If yes here are a few tips to get your copy of the new release at a bargain. Most readers assume that new books are not discounted as compared to the used book which is not true. Commonly the publishing houses throw discounts on their upcoming projects in the hope of getting pre-orders. This gives them a head start in recovering the return on investment much before the book hits the stands. Also, it gives them an estimate of the reach of their advertisements and the demand for the book. It is an ideal way to know how many people are looking forward for the book.
The digital age has given a new dimension to reaching people for new releases. This makes both the reader and the publisher very happy. When a publisher releases a series of new books, he offers much larger waivers. Book releases of popular authors, if you notice, build sufficient hype through media such as publishing an interview with the author who gives some insight on what to expect from the book, advertising in all related websites on the upcoming new book release.
Most websites such as Amazon, Flipkart, About, Ask and more offer a good 40% off on their list book prices. No doubt that at times there is a waiting period involved after placing your order especially if it's a pre-order. One thing you must take care is to see if you are buying titles that have good content. A general rule of thumb is to read the synopsis on the website. Also, not all new book release world over at the same time. Publishers stagger releases in different countries on different dates. If you have the advantage of a late release in your country reading up book reviews before purchasing the actual copy is a good way to know if you will like what you read.
Some off-beat books which cater to a niche segment such as children's read or specialized learning often comes with a waiver so as to boost the sales of such books. Moreover new version text books also come at predetermined waivers which encourages the reader to go in for the new version than a popular old one. During a new book release held at your local book shop the shop adds in few free bees or combo books offers to the walk-in customer to acknowledge their patronage.
You also have new online books released very often where the books are available to read online. These are far more effective and economical than the printed versions as they save on the paper and publishing cost. If you are a net junkie, you will love this option. The reading material variety is awesome and what's more interesting is that you make notes and add your personalized comments for the real book feel.
If you are a bookworm, take these tips when you look for a new book release the next time over.
